The Keys to Yoga and Detox.
If you are thinking of starting a “detox” program, one of the keys is yoga. Yoga can be the ideal companion.
The practice of yoga places a focus on systematically wringing, compressing and stretching the body.
Most postures involve twists, pushing and pulling which essentially massage the internal organs-namely the digestive system. This movement facilitates removal of waste products like Carbon Dioxide, lactic acid and lymphatic fluid from deep tissues.
Yogic breathing also plays an important role in detox.
Poor posture, and stress leads to rounding of the back or “hunghing”. The diaphragm (a muscle at the bottom of the ribcage which assists in breathing) becomes clenched, not allowing the lungs to fill. As a result we cannot get enough Oxygen when we breathe in and we are not able t expel carbon dioxide when we exhale. It remains trapped as stale air in our lungs.
The alignment and improved posture achieved through yoga opens the shoulders and chest. Yogic breathing clears the carbon dioxide from the lungs and allows more oxygen in. With breathing techniques, twits, compressions, you can retrain the diaphragm . In turn, the natural movement of the diaphragm massages the abdominal organs to work more efficiently.
The result is increased energy, increased metabolism and feeling great!
